Dr Hjh Suraya Hj Tarasat’s research interests include teacher education, teachers’ pedagogy, literacy, classroom interaction and talk, curriculum, teaching and learning in the language classroom, assessment and evaluation and culture. Her current research is ‘Amalan Terbaik guru Kesusasteraan Melayu dan Bahasa Melayu dalam menerapkan nilai murni’ and ‘The Strategy of the Internalization of moral values in the teaching and learning of MIB’

Dr Hjh Suraya has gained practical experience as an education officer, tutor, lecturer, Programme Leader (School Partnership) and Continuous Professional Development, Coordinator for Quantitative Research Modules and Malay Language Education Modules, and as Acting Director and Deputy Director of SOASCIS. She is one of the members of the Brunei Teacher Association and a member for the Malay Language Subject Committee at secondary level with the Ministry of Education. She has conducted various workshops for teachers on the teaching of writing and reading.
