The UBD STEAM Festival 2025 will be organized by the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) in celebration of Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s 40th anniversary. This event, in collaboration with key faculties and research centers at UBD, is an innovative initiative designed to bridge the gap between scientific research, innovation, and the broader community.

Scheduled for June 10-13, 2025, this four-day event will feature a dynamic array of on-campus exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions, along with off-campus outreach activities aimed at engaging schools and the public. With a strong emphasis on promoting STEAM education, enhancing public understanding of science, and showcasing UBD’s latest research and innovations, the festival aspires to inspire a culture of lifelong learning, sustainability, and community involvement. By incorporating a research component to gather audience perceptions and collaborating with international partners, the festival aims to significantly advance science education, promote STEAM careers, and strengthen sustainability efforts in Brunei Darussalam.

The Primary Audience
STEAM Festival 2025 includes school children, teachers, and parents. This group is at the heart of our efforts to inspire a new generation of learners and innovators. Through interactive exhibits, hands-on workshops, and engaging competitions, the festival aims to ignite curiosity and foster a deep interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) subjects. Teachers will benefit from professional development sessions that offer new strategies for integrating STEAM into their classrooms, while parents will gain insights into the exciting career opportunities available to their children in these fields.
The Secondary Audience
The secondary audience comprises university students, researchers, and the general public. For university students and researchers, the festival offers a platform to showcase their work, engage with the broader community, and explore interdisciplinary collaborations. The general public, including those with a casual interest in science and innovation, will have the opportunity to learn about the latest scientific developments and their implications for society. By reaching this broader audience, the festival aims to build a culture of lifelong learning and foster greater public appreciation for the role of science and innovation in driving sustainable development

The UBD STEAM Festival 2025 is an ambitious and innovative initiative that seeks to engage the community in scientific learning and exploration. Through collaboration with multiple faculties and outreach to schools and the public, the festival will be a significant step in fostering a culture of science, innovation, and education in Brunei Darussalam. The integration of research, international collaboration, and a focus on promoting STEAM careers and sustainability will further enhance the impact of this event
