Azwan Besar’s interests are in primary school physical education and sport pedagogy. He is currently working on a project ‘Tinjauan Masyarakat Mengenai Renang Dan Kemahiran Keselamatan Air Bagi Kanak-Kanak’. Other research projects include The effectiveness of swimming workshop for Primary & Secondary Physical Education Teachers.

Azwan Besar is currently Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Section (SAS/HEP) (from August 2018). Previously, he was Deputy Director Global Relations Assistant Vice Chancellor Office (Global Affairs) (August 2016 to July 2018) and Coordinator for the Executive Well-Being Programme at the Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) from 2011 to 2016.
